Bookkeeping is now a legal requirement, not a nice-to-have

Under the Corporate Tax law every UAE business must maintain financial statements and supporting records for seven years, and the FTA can request them at any time. VAT records must be kept for five years. Businesses that arrive with a shoebox of invoices in September are paying the highest fees and the most penalties. Monthly bookkeeping costs less than one year-end rescue.

What's included

  • Recording all sales, purchases, expenses and bank transactions.
  • Bank, card, supplier and customer reconciliations every month.
  • VAT-compliant invoicing set-up and quarterly VAT return preparation.
  • Receivables and payables ageing with a follow-up list.
  • Monthly profit and loss, balance sheet and cash summary.
  • Year-end IFRS (or IFRS for SMEs) financial statements for the Corporate Tax return.
  • A Chartered Accountant reviewing the books before every VAT and CT filing.

Software we work in

Zoho Books (FTA-accredited, our default recommendation), QuickBooks Online, Xero and Tally Prime. Prefer to stay in your own system? We work inside it. Starting fresh? We set up the chart of accounts, VAT codes and bank feeds and migrate opening balances.

Backlog bookkeeping

Missing months or years of books? We reconstruct them from bank statements, invoices and VAT returns, produce financial statements for each year, and identify VAT or Corporate Tax positions that need correcting. Fixed-fee, with a delivery date agreed upfront.

Why owners switch to us

  • Books are reviewed by a Chartered Accountant, not just entered by a bookkeeper.
  • VAT and Corporate Tax are handled by the same team — nothing falls between two advisers.
  • You own the software and the data; nothing is locked in with us.
  • Deadlines are managed for you, with document reminders before each period closes.

Frequently asked questions

How much does bookkeeping cost in Dubai?

It depends on transaction volume, number of bank accounts and whether payroll or inventory are involved. We quote a fixed monthly fee after seeing three months of bank statements — most small businesses fall into a predictable band and never pay hourly.

Can you take over from my current accountant mid-year?

Yes. We take the trial balance and ledgers to date, reconcile the opening position and continue from there without any gap in VAT filings.

Do I need to be in Dubai to work with you?

No. Documents are shared through a secure portal or WhatsApp, and meetings are by phone, Zoom or in our Hor Al Anz office when you prefer.

Which software should I use?

For most UAE SMEs Zoho Books: it is FTA-accredited, inexpensive and handles VAT well. We also support QuickBooks, Xero and Tally if you already use them.

Do you handle payroll and WPS?

Yes — payslips, WPS SIF files, gratuity accruals and end-of-service settlements are part of the Business plan or available as an add-on.

Can you prepare the Corporate Tax return from the books you keep?

Yes. Year-end financial statements and the Corporate Tax computation and return are prepared by the same team, which avoids the reconciliation problems that arise when two firms are involved.
